I didn't realize that I'd neglected this blog for soooooo long. Our lifestyle changed from longtime RVers to stay-at-home grandparents quite suddenly in September, 2007 when Daniel came to live with us. Are we smarter than a fifth grader? Not this one!
We spent a weekend in Georgia, meeting up with old and new friends who also own a Montana fifth wheel. Daniel had a great time as he's a real social butterfly.

We had to head north after spending a wonderful week in Fort Worth with Brett, Maureen, and the girls, so we stopped again to see Daniel in Wichita, Kansas. It was REALLY hot! But we had a great time with our favorite grandson.

We surprised the girls by just dropping in for a visit, something that doesn't happen often since we live 700 miles apart. The girls surprised us, too, as they both had the flu! Fortunately, it was the short version and they were up to par in a very short time.

After an afternoon rain shower, we were blessed with a beautiful double rainbow behind Brett and Maureen's house. It was a complete rainbow and so vivid. It reminded us of God's amazing creativity and His promise to never send another flood that would cover the Earth.

Here's the real reason we're in Kansas

We visited Daniel at his new home at Heartspring in Wichita, Kansas and got to visit his classroom where he was hard at work on his studies.

Steamboat Arabia

We extended our stay at Campus RV in Wichita which required us to move to another site. The next morning I had a wonderful surprise....this lovely chickadee entertained me outside our back window as he flitted around in the spruce tree.

If you're ever in the Kansas City area, be sure to stop and see Steamboat Arabia. The steamboat hit a tree snag and sunk during the 1800s in the Missouri river with a full load of cargo enroute to the new settlers in the West. The story of a family's effort to find and recover the steamboat is presented in videos and pictures. Then the goods that were recovered are displayed and most are in their original condition because they were preserved under 45 feet of river silt and water. They make up the largest recovery of pre-Civil War artifacts. The restoration of these artifacts has taken 15 years and they estimate that it will take another 15 years to restore the remaining artifacts. The steamboat was found in a Missouri cornfield about 1- 2 miles off the present course of the river.
